Documents and document folders

Documents and Document Folders are both under Content. Together they run your document library — folders organise documents, and documents are the individual files or links inside them. Neither has a draft state; saving publishes immediately.

Documents

Each document is either:

  • Internal — a file you upload, or
  • External — a URL to something hosted elsewhere

Pick which with the Type field; the Document upload or External Form URL field appears depending on your choice.

Other fields:

Field Notes
Title Also builds the slug
Member Only Hides it from visitors who haven't signed in on the public website
Shows In Library Whether it appears in the public document library listing at all — turn this off for a document you only want to link to directly, not browse to
Tags Free-text tags you create yourself (unlike the fixed Tags list on News/E-Notes, this one's genuinely yours to define)

There's also a Path field under a "Meta" section, used for matching documents imported from the old site. You won't normally need to touch it on a new document.

Document Folders

Each folder has a Title, can nest Subfolders, and lists which Documents belong to it. A Top Level checkbox marks whether it should show at the root of the library rather than inside another folder. Member Only works the same way as on Documents.

Where these appear on the website

The Documents List block (see Automatic list blocks), and the document library itself at /documents-library/<slug>.
